Yesterday we went to the Critter Creek Wildlife Station in Squaw Valley. We hadn’t been there in about 5 + years and were happy to see how much it has grown. They have added many new enclosures and as always had lots of knowledgeable volunteers on hand to direct and educate.
They even have a gift shop now. I saw a lot of folks brought their lunches and had a picnic there. Girl Scout troops were there to learn and have fun.
Each animal has an explanation of how it came to be at the rehabilitation center. Some animals are permanent residents, and others are restored and released. It is interesting to read their stories.
I love the beautiful surroundings in the spring. The grass is green, the wildflowers are amazing and the original house and barn areas boast beautiful old time plantings such as french lilacs, banks roses, wisteria vines, etc.
A creek runs through the middle of the property and you have a gorgeous view from the bridge to gaze down at the trickling water and flora.
